What You Need To Know About Moving to Victoria

If you’re a professional or a business owner who’s thinking of moving to Victoria, or have recently moved to this beautiful city, this talk is perfect for you.

You’ll find Victoria is unlike any other city you’ve ever lived in. Sue moved here over 25 years ago and it was her best move ever, however she was surprised to discover how many people move to Victoria and don’t always have such a positive experience.

Sue has now dedicated a key area of her coaching practice to helping professionals and business owners who want to move to Victoria, determine if this move is right for them and if it is, help them enjoy a smooth and successful transition. Sue also helps newcomers to Victoria who want to take full advantage of all the city has to offer and would like the support of a professional life & career transitions coach who knows the city and how it works. Sue helps people through info sessions like this one, workshops and one-on-one coaching.

In 90 minutes, Sue will share valuable information including a profile of Victoria residents, the climate, the job market, the full range of outdoor and indoor activities, the interesting makeup of local government and perhaps most valuable of all, her inside scoop on what it takes to fully embrace living in Victoria. There’ll be time for Q&A, networking with other participants and some surprise special offers too.

While some information will be provided that will be relevant for families, this event is in a small group setting and is specifically designed for adults.

Space is limited, so don’t hesitate, reserve your FREE seat immediately to avoid disappointment and get the inside scoop on living in Victoria from a local expert.

Here’s what recent participants liked the most:

“A lot of valuable information”
“The structured approach and the way the information was delivered”

The overwhelming feedback from participants in the Commit to Self-Care and Be Your BEST Self workshop is that they would recommend it to others and here’s what a recent participant, Deb Alcadinho had to say:

“Sue Maitland guides women in a 90 minute self-care workshop encompassing brainstorming, awareness and enlightenment. I had the pleasure of attending one of Sue’s recent workshops and found it extremely worthwhile. As a busy professional, it’s challenging to find time for myself but Sue brought to light some interesting things to ponder and an awareness of self that I had not previously taken the time to do. Thank you Sue for a great 90 minutes, followed by an scrumptious dinner at the Union Club.  Highly recommended! ”

Is Fulfillment the Missing Piece of the Puzzle For You?

Fulfillment - Puzzle on the Place of Missing Pieces.Do you sometimes feel something is missing in your life? Could it be that you don’t feel a sense of fulfillment? What does the term “fulfillment” really mean anyway? I believe it means having a deep sense of happiness and satisfaction with your life. In simple terms, it’s when you wake up looking forward to the day ahead and all the possibilities it holds and go to bed at the end of the day feeling satisfied with the way the day unfolded, even if everything didn’t go exactly as planned.

What makes us feel fulfilled is different for each of us. We bring our belief systems and values into everything we do and these things will influence what fulfillment means to us. Taking the time to ask what makes us feel fulfilled is a valuable exercise at any point in our lives and is especially relevant when dealing with a personal or professional transition.

Transitions offer us the opportunity to re-shape our future. Just imagine if we had the knowledge of what really fulfills us as we deal with a personal or professional transition and were able to craft a future that brings more happiness and satisfaction into our lives?

As a life and career transitions coach, I encourage my clients to explore what fulfillment means to them as a part of our work together and I’m always open to discovering new ways to help people get this clarity.

I’ve known best-selling author and trainer, Michael Losier for a number of years now and he has touched thousands of lives with his “how to” guide on practicing the Law of Attraction. I’ve taken his classes and apply the principles in my life and business and see the positive results.

What’s exciting for me is that he’s now written a new book “Your Life’s Purpose – Uncover What Really Fulfills You” and he’s developed a workshop that helps you quickly and efficiently discover your top fulfillment needs. Imagine how valuable that information could be. I know the process works as I’ve participated his workshop based on his new book and I’ve used the process over the phone with my coaching clients and the results are powerful.

If you’re interested in learning more about upcoming workshops or working with me one-on-one to uncover your top fulfillment needs, please reach out to me at 778-265-6880 or email me at suemaitland@shaw.ca

10 Tips for more JOY and Less STRESS This Holiday Season

Christmas BoxThe Holidays can be a wonderful time of year when we take time to celebrate all that we have and the spirit of the season often encourages us to give to others less fortunate than ourselves.

However, along with all those wonderful feelings can also come a great deal of stress. There’s so much planning and preparation and social events to attend and of course the traditions that can sometimes become more of a burden than a joy.

Follow my 10 tips and you’ll experience more JOY and less STRESS this Holiday Season

  1. Remember that YOU are Important – it’s so easy to focus on making sure everyone else is having a good time that you may forget to take care of yourself. Remember this is YOUR holiday too – put yourself in the mix.
  2. Make a Plan – make a list of everything that has to be done as early as possible and add target dates for completion
  3. Invite Others to Help – share the list with everyone who participates in your Holiday Celebration and invite them to pick a number of things off the list that they will take care of
  4. Don’t Strive for Perfection – if others are helping, understand that they might do things a little differently than you would and commit to being OK with that – it’s not about perfection – it’s about having fun!
  5. Don’t Get Hung Up on Tradition – if a family tradition is a lot of work for you and you don’t love doing it, invite someone else to do it or suggest an alternative that could work for you
  6. Put a Limit on Spending – set a $ amount for all gifts and stick to it. If someone wants a bigger gift, let 2 or 3 family members club together to buy it. Ask people to provide a wish list that fits the budget.
  7. Find a Way to Give Back – whether you volunteer at a shelter, donate to a food bank, buy a hen or a goat for a family in Africa or invite a recently widowed neighbour in for a drink or a meal, take time to honour what we’re celebrating at this time of year.
  8. Eliminate Non-Essentials – send cards only to people who are really important to you and who you know will appreciate them, consider going out to eat rather than cooking a huge meal, or make it a pot luck meal where everyone contributes something
  9. Build FUN into Your Plans – ask everyone to pick a fun activity that they would love to do over the Holiday Period and add each of their activities to your plan.
  10. BREATHE & Take Mini-Breaks – this is especially important if you’re feeling overwhelmed or if there is any family tension in the air. Step outside and take a moment to unwind and just breathe – you’ll be practicing self-care and able to show up as your best self for others when you do this.

Wishing you and those you care about a wonderful Holiday Season
