What’s Important to me NOW? Workshop

In this powerful 2 hour workshop participants will take the time to ask the question “What are the things in my life that are really important to me right now and what things do I want to give more focus to in the future?” Many of us lead very busy lives juggling personal, work and family commitments and we rarely stop to evaluate whether we’re spending our time on activities that really reflect who we are and what’s important to us as individuals. If you feel you may be approaching a crossroads in your life, investing a Sunday afternoon with a life coach to help you get clear on your personal priorities can have a profound effect on the rest of your life.

Image knowing exactly what your priorities are and being able to evaluate each new demand for your time or attention in the light of whether this supports what’s most important to you. As you move forward after this workshop and begin to make choices aligned to what’s most important to you, you will begin to feel a powerful sense of control, satisfaction and happiness in the new life you are creating for yourself.

This foundational workshop is a pre-requisite for future workshops and coaching groups which may focus on:
• helping seniors plan a future move
• understanding what an ideal retirement could look like for you
• building friendships and a social life that supports who you are and what you enjoy

Other topics will be added as interest and demand dictates.

Call Sue today to register for this event at 778-265-6880.

Are You in Stuck a Rut?

Are You Stuck in a Rut?

Don’t wait….

Start doing something about it

TODAY

Do you sometimes feel that you’re stuck in a rut?

Your life is routine and there’s really not a lot to look forward to?

You’re not alone – many people go through life this way, but you can chose to do something about it…

How do you know you’re in a rut?

  1. You wake up in the morning and there’s no sense of excitement or anticipation about your day
  2. You dread Monday morning – you live for the weekend and vacations
  3. You’re marking time until you retire when you can really start to enjoy life
  4. Your life consists of the same old routine – you’re not learning or experiencing anything new
  5. You dream of things you’d love to do but never get around to taking steps to actually make them happen.

Exercise 1:

Ask yourself where you fall on a scale of 1 to 10 where 1 is “I can barely drag myself out of bed in the morning and face the day” and 10 is “I love my life and can’t wait to experience all the wonderful people I’ll be connecting with and things I have planned for today

If you are a 5 or below, you may be in a rut…..

What can you do about it?

  1. Take some quiet time to understand what’s really important to you (your core values)
  2. Take stock of your special talents and strengths (read StrengthsFinder 2.0 and take the online test to uncover your top 5 strengths)
  3. Think of the times in your life when you felt truly alive and energized – what were you doing? How can you find a way to get more of this energy into your life?
  4. Ask yourself what might be YOUR special purpose or calling in life
  5. Put a plan together to bring more positive energy into your life – take small steps at first and the momentum will begin to build until you have more and more of what you want in your life
  6. Consider working with a life coach to get clear on what you want and the support to help you get it

Exercise 2:

Imagine you are a fly on the wall at your 80th Birthday Party (if you’re 80 or older, imagine a birthday 10 years in the future). As birthday gift, someone has commissioned a book to be written about you and the author is interviewing your friends and family about their experience of having you in their lives.

Q1   What do you want them to be saying about you?

Q2   What would they be saying if they were interviewed today?

Compare the two and use this to determine if it’s time to make some changes in your life

What if you’re in a rut with your job?

  1. Understand what you like to do and explore ways to bring this into your current job
  2. Explore other possibilities with your current employer – talk to people in roles you think you might enjoy to really understand what’s involved and if it’s something you’d enjoy doing
  3. Don’t quit your job without a plan
  4. If you’re laid off, don’t spend months doing nothing – take a few weeks for yourself and then take the time to explore what you really want from your next job and understand what you have to offer an employer and then NETWORK – the reality is that most jobs are found through word of mouth and never actually get posted.
  5. Never send a resume out without customizing it for the company you’re applying to so that they can easily see how your skills match their needs. Always attach a custom cover letter addressed to the person who will make the hiring decision (call and ask the receptionist who that is) and always follow up with a phone call to show your interest.
  6. Find your passion and then find a way to bring it into your work and it won’t even feel like work

Whether you work with a life transitions coach or find the motivation to take these actions yourself, always remember, it’s never too early or too late to begin to

Make the rest of your life the BEST of your life
